In this course you will learn:
- How to calculate the value of a solar project
- Strategies and analytical tools to price a project competitively
- How to build relationships with investors that can lead to future opportunities
- How to use a comprehensive spreadsheet model to price and evaluate commercial solar projects
You will also gain access to the all the legal documents and contracts needed to finance a deal. These, along with the modelling tools provided, are worth over $25,000.
Week 1: The development plan and review of the six critical factors that need to be considered: site control, permitting, power offtake, financing, interconnection and engineering.
Week 2: Sizing a commercial PV system and developing a basic economic model.
Week 3: Risk management and budgeting. Note that the discussion of incentives is focussed on the US market, however the principles of budgeting for incentives presented in the course are the same everywhere.
Week 4: Request for proposal and responding to it. Solar PV financing structures, specifically the partnership flip, sale-leaseback and pass-through lease model.
Week 5: Contract documentation, covering a wide range of contracts, from site and land leasing through to power purchase agreements (PPA), operation and maintenance agreements, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreements and more.
Week 6: Putting it all together.
After the course you will have 12 months of access to the material and be able to enjoy access to a private Linkedin Group only available to those who have completed the course.
For satisfactory completion you will need to devote at least 5 hours a week to the course. It is assumed that you have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
